Impact investments play an important part in reaching the UN SDGs by addressing a variety of global challenges, spanning from improving health and wellbeing to clean water access and energy efficiency. It is a story about choice, a story about our future and the world we want to see for the generations to come.

The impact investing industry is growing rapidly, proving that financial returns can go hand in hand with both environmental and social impact. With an increased interest all over the world, more and more banks are offering their customers impact investment opportunities. According to the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), there is also a strong commitment to managing and measuring impact in the industry.

Moving from focusing only on financial returns, to doing no harm or intentionally doing good – have you ever thought about the difference between traditional-, responsible-, sustainable- and impact investing? And where does venture philanthropy and traditional philanthropy fit into the picture?

In this 4 minute video, DOEN Participaties B.V., Finance in Motion, Volta Capital and Pymwymic teamed up to spread the word about impact investing. Check it out to learn what impact investing is all about!

At SEIF, we support impact driven startups to create the future we want to see for the generations to come. With our services and access to impact investing opportunities, we support impact oriented entrepreneurs in the first financing rounds.

We have a strong focus on tech for impact startups spanning across all sectors, including low tech solutions. The UN SDGs provide valuable guidelines in terms of impact areas and the first insights about our SEIF Awards suggest how different technologies can be used to reach them.

Over the last years, we had different activities within our Impact Investors Circle, an angel network with investors committed to making a positive impact through investments in early stage social enterprises. Members include business angels, family offices and individuals interested in a positive impact and financial return.

In addition, we have established a strong network of collaborations with business angel clubs and impact investors in both Switzerland and the broader European region. You can read more about it here.
