On 6 October 2016 the celebration of the sixth edition of the seif Awards for Social Entrepreneurship took place at Volkshaus Zurich. The Awards honour young companies that create financial as well as social and/or environmental benefits. 292 social entrepreneurs from 65 countries participated in this year’s competition and the finalists pitched on stage at the Awards ceremony before more than 200 people attending. Carbon Delta – Award for Entrepreneurial Innovation
Carbon Delta is an environmental fintech start-up that produces equity research focusing on identifying and analysing the climate change resilience of publicity traded companies. It has developed a proprietary evaluation system to help investors assessing climate risks in their portfolios. The comprehensive model includes regulations, technology, extreme weather risks and climate trends. The financial information is used by various organization, such as asset managers, insurances, rating agencies, companies and governments.
Green City Solutions – Award for Future Trends
Green City Solutions develops highly efficient and sustainable solutions to improve the environment and air quality of urban spaces. By including IoT- technology in their vertical slots system for pollution-eating moss cultures in urban infrastructure, they aim to mitigate climate change and fight air pollution.

MoSan – Award for Social Entrepreneurship
MoSan is an ecological, rapid-deployable sanitation solution for places where appropriate technology is not yet available. Poor sanitation infrastructure leads to environmental contamination, disease spreading and social issues. MoSan offers an ecological service and an aspirational mobile dry-toilet to provide people with dignity, safety and hygiene.
Choba Choba – seif Jury Special Mention
The Chocolate Revolution hand in hand with the cacao farmers. This start-up seeks to turn the unbalanced power relations in the chocolate industry upside down by making the cacao farmers co-owners of the chocolate brand, where they have a real voice, take part in the important decisions of the company and sell their chocolates directly to the consumers.
